The course is designed in such a manner that student may develop the expertise over a wide variety of areas. It equips you with the core skills that are required in a medical facility. The specific skills focused on during the program include extensive knowledge of Medical Terminology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Billing and Coding, Record Management and Medical Transcription among-st others.
The aim of this fast-paced, cutting-edge Program is to develop key proficiency as a “Medical Office Assistant” in a wide variety of areas includes medical terminology, office administration, word processing, clinical office procedures and more and eligible our graduate to find immediate employment in an in-demand industry.
Our graduates will be equipped with the following skills:
- Medical office procedures
- Computer software applications skills used in medical office settings, office administration, patient relations and basic office accounting
- Communication and customers service skills to be able to meet various patient needs in a dynamic medical office setting
- Medical terminology used in the medical field and anatomy and physiology basics in order to understand the structure, purpose and function of the various body systems
- The various clinical procedures performed in a medical office including procedure regarding infection control, sanitation and sterilization
- The medical transcription skills necessary to produce accurate medical reports from recorded dictations
- Proper typing techniques and improve keyboarding accuracy
- The use of Microsoft Windows applications including Words, Excel and PowerPoint
Graduates have a wide range of employment opportunities eg. to work in medical, chiropractic, dental, physiotherapy and massage clinics, doctor’s offices, hospitals, nursing homes, hospice care, medical supply companies, outpatient clinics as well as in the claims department of insurance companies.
Standard Admission
- Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
- Successful interview with Alison College Administration
Mature Admission
- At least 18 years of age or older
- Successful completion of College Entrance Test (CET)
- A Canadian language benchmark 5 or equivalent (IELTS, TOEFL or other recognized test)
